LISTEN: ScottCluthe’s Positively Incorrect
Scott Cluthe has two distinctly different guests Tuesday night.
First Theodore Malloch talks about Doing Virtuous Business. Then Steve Volk tells Scott of his adventrures in Fringeology!
Can the concept of “spiritual capital” actually ensure a company’s success? Critics of capitalism view big businesses as insatiable masters of the universe with little regard for the public. They label those who create wealth as greedy, malicious, and unscrupulous. Doing Virtuous Business answers these charges head-on. In this insightful and original book, Theodore Roosevelt Malloch presents the bold idea that the creation of wealth by virtuous means is the most important thing that can be done for society.
Doing Virtuous Business explains the true purpose of business and illuminates the connection between a free economy and religious liberty. Drawing from the notion of “social capital,” which has been developed by generations of scholars, Malloch adds the concept of “spiritual capital” as a foundation for social progress and also a necessity for responsible and successful enterprise. He details the virtues that sustain a business and a free market—virtues that build up a network of trust, which is critical to the global economy.
Theodore Roosevelt Malloch, is Chairman and CEO of The Global Fiduciary Governance LLC, a leading strategy thought leadership company. Ted Malloch conceptualizes and executes some of today’s most dynamic international projects. He was President of the 1992 World Economic Development Congress sponsored by CNN, “the common frame of reference for the world’s power elite.” That Congress focused on “Building the Integrated Global Economy” and offered Chief Executive Officers, Ministers of Governments, planning, marketing, investment, and economic leaders worldwide a forum where new business relationships were established. At that Congress Lady Margaret Thatcher dubbed him, “a global sherpa”.
Fringe-ology is my attempt to reconcile a mysterious ghost story from my childhood with my lifelong, down to earth occupation as a journalist. My solution was to do journalism—to investigate that family ghost story, and other paranormal topics, in the high style of narrative nonfiction. What I found is a great tale that’s been relegated to the fringe of our discourse for too long—a story about all of us, a story filled with ghosts, UFOs, maverick scientists, psychics, spoon-benders and the people who love and hate them. More importantly, I found common ground we can all share—a place for skeptics and believers, spiritualists and scientists, to stand together—not at the fringes, but at the heart of what it means to be human.
